St. Paul man killed in parents’ Chanhassen garage identified

A 33-year-old St. Paul man killed Friday night in his parents’ garage in Chanhassen has been identified as Erik Allen Berger, in accordance with the Carver County sheriff’s office.

Carver County Sheriff Jason Kamerud gave the next details in a news release Saturday:

Shortly before 4 p.m. Friday, authorities received a 911 call a few medical emergency within the 8100 block of Audubon Road in Chanhassen. When public safety staff arrived, they found a person lying on the ground in a garage area where his parents had found him. It appeared he had been violently assaulted.

Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead.

Detectives later found a “person of interest” dead at a house in Minneapolis.

The sheriff’s office released further details in regards to the homicide on Monday saying Berger suffered each knife and gunshot wounds. The person authorities consider killed Berger died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It appears the 2 knew one another. The sheriff’s office didn’t say if the suspect was a person or woman.

Identification of the suspected killer shall be released by the Hennepin County medical expert’s office.

The slaying remains to be under investigation by the Carver County sheriff’s office, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Midwest Health worker’s office, and the Hennepin County Health worker’s office.
